Why did Yehowah strike Yehoshua in the manner that He did; so that Yehoshua was not only viciously beaten and ill-treated by sinners, but also murdered?
BY Maregaal Ben Yaakov
This article does not really have to be that long. This is because it is a pretty simple question to answer. To answer this question let us look at two sections of Scripture first.

Proverbs 3
11 My son, do not despise Yehowah's discipline
and do not resent his rebuke,
12 because Yehowah disciplines those he loves,
as a father the son he delights in.

and Hebrews 12
5 "My son, do not make light of the Lord's discipline,
and do not lose heart when he rebukes you,
6 because the Lord disciplines those he loves,
and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son."
7 Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as
sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father?
If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes
discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not
     true sons.

Therefore in saying, if a man wants to be a prophet, he will be tested by Yehowah in such
a way to discipline him in that regard. To go here and there, to preach and speak and to
be a man/person of prayer. You will be tested over and over before becoming a prophet
in order to get any dross out of you, things that are ungodly or unbecoming. In order to
make you pure and holy and to take out any hypocrisy that might be there. These tests and
manners of discipline become harder as things progress because you will be more refined.
This is also to see if one is truly willing. For when the Israelites were in the desert after
coming out of Egypt, Yehowah tested the people through hunger, to see whether or not
they would either turn back to Egypt or lean on Him for everything. As you can see they
actually did want to turn back for they murmured constantly, for they had no faith.

So, with all of this in mind, how much more so should someone be tested, tried and
disciplined if that person wants to be ranked and given the position to govern over all creation under the direction of the God of Israel. And, also sit at the very right hand of Yehowah, versus just being a prophet or a mere holy man?

Thus, it was fitting for Yehoshua to be punished the way he was and to be tempted by
sinners in many matters, that includes by satan himself, too. It was then also fitting to have a
more murderous death then any of the other prophets. For now he sits at the right hand of Yehowah, the God of Israel, the one True God - who alone is the 'Father.'

For this is what some verses say:
"He was despised and rejected by men."
"We considered him stricken by God, smitten by Him, and
  afflicted."
"But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was
crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought
us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed."
"He was oppressed and afflicted."
"He was cut off from the land of the living; for the
transgression of My people he was stricken."
"It was Yehowah's will to crush him and cause him to suffer."
"After the suffering of his soul, he will see the light of life. "
"See, My servant will act wisely;
he will be raised and lifted up and highly exalted."  Just as there were many who
were appalled at him because his appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any man
and his form marred beyond human likeness."
"I offered my back to those who beat me,  my cheeks to those who pulled out my beard;
I did not hide my face from mocking and spitting."
"They will look on me, the one they have pierced."
"They divide my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing."

Then lastly, " Yehowah said to my adon: 'Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies
a footstool for your feet.'"
"Yehowah has sworn and will not change His mind: 'You are a priest forever, in the order
   of Melchizedek."
"You crowned him with glory and honor."

Thus, Jesus did it and succeeded. You can too be holy, upright, a righteous person and a
prophet, but be warned, the God of Israel will test you to see if you are really willing, for He wants you to be holy and with He and His son forever.

Shalom and Love,
Maregaal
