History of Samhain

Shalom and thank you kindly for reading this brief history of "Halloween." We invite you to read this and learn as we expose the truth of this ancient pagan tradition that has become a pagan modern "holiday." It is not a "nice holiday for the kids so they can eat candy and dress up as a character"...for to believe that is to believe utter deception from the devil. Please read on....

The Gaelic word "Samhain,"

'sow-in' (in Ireland), or 'sow-een' (in Wales), or 'sav-en' (in Scotland), but NOT

'sam-hane' (in the U.S., where they don't speak Gaelic).

Samhain, also written as: "Samain," (Celtic: “End of Summer," or "Summer's end"), is one of the most important and sinister calendar festivals of the Celtic year. At Samhain, held on November 1, the ghosts, or spirits of loved ones, and other spirits, (that are demons, in truth), were believed to be made visible to mankind, to bless them, or even curse them. Thus, in order to be on these spirits' good side, per say, the Celtic people would perform all sorts of sacrifices to them, and also would make propitiations of every kind that were thought to be vital. Therefore, the Celtic people would be deeply involved in necromancy, spiritism, and all sorts of witchcraft, which things are commanded never to be done by the True God of heaven, in Deuteronomy 18:10-12:

"There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For whoever does these things is detestable to the LORD."

This pagan festival was celebrated by Celtic people for over 2,000 years, even before the birth of Jesus, in the area that is now the United Kingdom, Ireland, and northwestern France. The festival marked the beginning of the dark winter season and was celebrated around November 1. In the 7th Century, however, after which the Catholic Church had been in the Celtic regions for some time, and because of their lack of success in converting the Celtic people away from their wicked practices, "Pope" Boniface IV [Jesus said, "call no man father"] and the Catholics adopted the Celtic practices to a great extent. They just changed them up a little; and therefore, marked it as, "All saint's day," or "All Hallowmas," to be observed on November 1. The eve before this day was October 31; thus, making it "the Eve" of "All Hallows Day," with the end result being "Hallow'een."

"All saints day" was already being celebrated by the the Catholics on 5/13 every year, which also was an adaption of an ancient and pagan Roman festival called, "The Feast of Lemuria" that was celebrated on the 9th, 11th and 13th of that same month.

The Feast of Lemuria was a celebration [to an extent] of the dead as well, as the Celtics' festival was, and was known to have existed before the birth of Jesus. We know this because a Roman poet speaks of it in his poetry. This Poet's name is "Ovid," or, Publius Ovidius Naso and he lived from 3/20/43 BC to 17 AD.

The Catholics, therefore, moved their "all saint's day" from 5/13 to the time the Druids [Celtic priests/prophets/medicine-men/shamans] and Celtic people celebrated their customs in order to have "an appeal" to these pagans. In all this manuvering, however, they did not realize that they were accepting more pagan practices that were making them even further away from the Jewishness of Christ and his faith of Judaism which condemns such practices. Furthermore, they moved their holiday from the Spring to November 1, but it is because of "Samhain" that people do what they do on the night of October 31. Once again, the Catholics went along with the pagans in their beliefs and so went along with the thought that the "saints," (instead of just any spirit) came to bless them, and/or they (the living) would simply remember them (the dead) or memorialize their names, which they have been doing for quite some time, as I have already mentioned.

In truth, Catholics and all that follow these customs become more ensnared because of all the "necromancy" involved in these pagan holidays, and the calling on so-called "loved ones" or "remembered ones." Where, in truth, many people that do such things are looking to demons (fallen angels) - which are deceiving spirits, that are acting or impersonating people that have died, whether or not they are so-called, "saints."

Remember, according to the Torah and the Holy Tanakh, and the God of Israel, when one dies he/she does not go to heaven, nor hell upon death, but that person's spirit sleeps while their body decays in the ground, and there they wait until the last day. When the last day arrives it will be at that time that those that have died will be raised again, and will finally be judged. Remember what Daniel the prophet says in Daniel 12:2, "Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt." Meaning, that their "everlasting life," or "everlasting contempt" has not begun until that day should arrive.

A real saint is holy ,though; whereas many of the Catholic "saints" are not saints at all. Nonetheless, because a saint was considered holy, they used the word, "hallow" to describe them. This word means "holy." And, so the eve of "all - saint's day" became known as "hallow-een."

" In the early Church, Christians would celebrate the anniversary of a martyr's death for Christ (known as the saint's "birth day") by serving an All-Night Vigil, and then celebrating the Eucharist (signifing Catholic rituals vs. the Hebrew custom of breaking regular bread and remembering that Jesus did the same and that his body was 'broken' for those that would come to him) over their tomb or place of martyrdom. In the fourth century, neighbouring dioceses began to transfer relics, and to celebrate the feast days of specific martyrs in common. Frequently, a number of Christians would suffer martyrdom on the same day, which naturally led to a joint commemoration. In the persecution of Diocletian the number of martyrs became so great that a separate day could not be assigned to each. But the Church, feeling that every martyr should be venerated, appointed a common day for all.

A commemoration of "All Martyrs" began to be celebrated as early as the year 270, although no specific month or date are mentioned in existing records. The first trace of a general celebration on a specific day is attested in Antioch on the Sunday after Pentecost. There is mention of a common day in a sermon of St. Ephrem the Syrian (373), and the custom is also referred to in the 74th Homily of St. John Chrysostom (407), who speaks of a "feast of martyrs of the whole world." As early as 411, there is found among the Chaldean Christians a general commemoration of all Confessors (Commemoratio Confessorum), celebrated on the Friday after the cemmoration of Christ's day of resurrection. "

This quote clearly shows that what is discribed above has nothing to do with "halloween" or "samhain."

Be advised, if you see a so-called "Christian Church" participating in these things, they are pagans, in the eyes of the Lord, and participate with the deeds of the pagan Celtic traditions, and the wickedness and compromising of the Catholics. They all shall go to hell if they do not repent, and start following the ways of righteousness as commanded by the One True God, the God of Israel in the Law of Moses and in the commandments that His son, Jesus/Yehoshua gave, that are found in the gospels.

Some churches, like Evangel Temple, First Baptist Church and other pagan churches in Fort Smith, Arkansas will change the name of this night from Halloween to "Fall Festival" or "Hallelujah Night" or "First Family Fun Night" or something of the like. Their deeds are the same, nonetheless, whereas they dress up as dead bible characters. They still participate in this wicked night by commemorating the day of it, and by acting as dead bible characters, which is not allowed by the God of Israel. They shall all go to hell, for observing such a vile festival and "celebration."

If you are observing this day, then repent of your sins unto the God of Israel, Yehowah, in the name of His son, His precious lamb, Yehoshua/Jesus. Then, turn from your sins, and let us know, and we will be glad to disciple you and train you in the ways of righteousness that Yehoshua practiced and taught, for he said, "he that keepeth my commandments, he it is that loveth me," John 14.
