Before I answer this question, let us first read what I am talking about.
Matthew 19:3-8
3 And there came unto him Pharisees, trying him, and saying, Is it lawful for a man to
put away his wife for every cause?
4 And he answered and said, Have ye not read, that he who made them from the
beginning made them male and female,
5 and said, For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to
his wife; and the two shall become one flesh?
6 So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together,
let not man put asunder.
7 They say unto him, Why then did Moses command to give a bill of divorcement,
and to put her away?
8 He saith unto them, Moses for your hardness of heart suffered you to put away
your wives: but from the beginning it hath not been so.
For some people this might seem like or sound like Moses invented some laws for the people of Israel alongside of the Lord's law. This type of thinking is due to not understanding the deepness of the Lord and His servants over time, thus,
also not understanding the scripture. This is not the case, however, about Moses. Moses was a prophet of the Lord, and so, therefore, obeyed the law of the Lord fully, (disregarding his anger at the people in the desert; he was frustrated with them for they were sinners). Remember, that Moses knew and wrote the commandments that say, "Do not add, nor subtract from the words of this law." Thus, for these two things, this particular law and because he was a prophet, he only uttered the Lord's words, and so only wrote the law of the Lord. It is only because Moses himself wrote these laws down it came to be known as, "the law of Moses." It, however, was not given by Moses, but rather through Moses.
Let me explain something to you for a moment. Who was it that uttered the 10 commandments before a multitude of people of well over 600,000 people at once with a loud voice that thundered? Was it not Yehowah? Can you tell me then what the third commandment was of what Yehowah said? Is it not, "Thou shalt not take the name of Yehowah Elohe-cha ('-cha,' means 'your') in vain; for Yehowah will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain?" Yet, what occurs when Jesus comes on the scene? Does he not annul this commandment of Yehowah by saying "I tell you, Do not swear at all......Simply let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No' (Matthew 5:33-36)?"
Thus, if you get where I am going, the commandment that Moses gave about giving a certificate of divorce is now only valid, from Jesus' time on. If a spouse only commits illicit sexual acts, (whether that be adultery, homosexuality, bestiality or incest, but not fornication, because a man can have more than one wife. (Click here to see what I mean about fornication)), versus just "for any reason" as during the
time of Moses, to the very moment Jesus uttered his words. And guess what? The four evil deeds I just listed are capital offense crimes, so if such people were caught in such acts by two or more witnesses, they would have to be put to death by either stoning, or by being burned alive.
Now, please understand something, Jesus' words in his time, (and our's today,) would mean nothing if he stood among them without one main ingredient. "What is that?" you might ask. That ingredient would have to be a 'sign' from him. Why a sign? Because the Lord let all 100% of His messengers give signs from Him in order to prove they were not imposters and actually uttered the words of the Lord. If someone simply uttered a new commandment, and did not give a sign and so said, "thus saith the Lord......" they were the ones leading the people astray and would have to be put to death. Yet, because the people could not wait to see if one particular sign would come to pass, that is him dying and living again, he gave signs all the time. This is also the very reason he mentioned to his disciples in
John 10,
Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me;
or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves (his
signs).
In case you have not figured it out yet, this is also why he (Yehoshua) condemned several cities. This is what he says,
Woe to you, Korazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! If the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
and
And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted up to the skies? No, you will go down to the depths. If the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Sodom, it would have remained to this day.
Therefore, you must understand this is one of the few laws that was changed by Jesus. In fact, I just mentioned two of them; oaths, and divorce for any reason.
Also, please understand that the "law of Moses" was strictly given by the Lord, and none of it was invented by Moses, nor was any of it invented by the holy priests. If a law or 'custom' was not brought into existence by a sign, it is not of the Lord. Notice, therefore, that all the laws in or of the Tanach were mentioned by prophets, not crafty men as we see with Jewish and 'Christian' customs of today.
This therefore, proves that the Torah, the real law of the Lord, is living and growing from generation to generation and never contradicting itself in the process. Why is it growing? Because more and more things get invented over time, thus needing regulation.
The Lord never changes! He commands all to be holy and to be smart, intelligent and obedient to/and in Him, His ways and His Torah. To strive after His theocracy, not in the knowledge, and wickedness of men with their theories, mythologies, medicinal fields, biology, psychology, philosophy, false or vain astronomy, sports, games, acting, movies, idleness, diets, fashion, art, sexual pleasures, politics and whatever else men of the world might teach.
May the God of Israel and His son help you in this vile and dark world!!! May you see the darkness and the wiles of the devil so that you can avoid such!!!
Love,
Thomas
