To be quite honest, I really do not care who these scholars were because every single one of them knew nothing of the tenents of Judaism. I say this because if they had they would have and should have torn out all the writings of Paul and the book of Jude and a few others, because these writings oppossed the words of Jesus himself and what the prophets of Israel have said throughout the centuries leading up to Jesus' life. On top of this, dispite what the "kool-aid drinkers" of the "Pro-King James only" crowd say, the King James Version follows Erasmus' third edition of the Greek "New Testament" which is highly tainted in and of itself. For Erasmus himself put the "Comma Johanneum" into the Greek text in order to push the Trinitarian agenda, which highly opposses the teachings of the prophets of Israel and even Paul who was considered in his day to be a heretic by thousands of converted Jews. Now even though Paul opposed the truth, because of his "grace" teaching, he nonetheless never taught that Jesus was "God in the flesh." Paul taught that Jesus he was a mere "creature" of creation, being the very "firstborn" of them all. For here is what he writes in Col 1:15, "Whose in the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature." John says the same thing in Revelation 3:14, "And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the first of the creation of God."
My point in saying all of this is this: While the scholars of the King James Bible did a pretty accurate job of translating Erasmus' third edition of his Greek New Testament, this in of itself does not prove that the doctrines therein are the truth or ever have been the truth. Thus, many of the writings of the "New Testament" canon should not even been considered as scripture in the first place, but tossed in the city dump. So not to sound odd or funny, but millions of people are decieved by the "scripture" themselves. From the virgin birth, to saved by grace and that the law of Moses was done away with; Jesus went into the desert for forty days and was tempted by the devil vs. going to a wedding in Cana as John proclaims; to John the Baptist and Jesus being cousins and that they knew each other according to Luke, but were not cousins, nor did they know each other according to John; To the last supper being held on 1/15 according to Matthew, Mark and Luke, being also the Passover meal, yet according to John it was held on 1/14 and that it was regular meal, not the Passover, but that he died hours before the Passover offering was to be sacrificed; plus many other blatant contradictions that go against the prophecies of the prophets. John's gospel is the only gospel that compliments Judaism and her holy prophets, not opposes them as the other three do as well as Jude and Paul.

Now dispite the canonized epistles of Paul, Jude and other writings that blatantly contradict Judaism or the faith of the prophets, the reason the "protestant" bible doesn't contain the Apocrypha is for these reasons:
FROM: Alexander McClure on the Apocryphal Committee--
The sixth and last company of King James's Bible-translators met at Cambridge. To this company was assigned all the Apocryphal books, which, in those times, were more read and accounted of than now, though by no means placed on a level with the canonical books of Scripture.*
*The reasons assigned for not admitting the apocryphal books into the canon or list of inspired Scriptures are briefly the following. 1. Not one of them is in the Hebrew language, which was alone used by the inspired historians and poets of tile Old Testament. 2. Not one of the writers lays any claim to inspiration, t. These books were never acknowledged as sacred Scriptures bv the lewish Church, and therefore were never semctioned by our Lord. 4. They were not allowed a place among the sacred books, during the first four centuries of tile Christian Church. 5. They contain fabulous statements which contradict not only the canonical Scriptures, but themselves; as when, in tile two Books of Maccabees, Antiochus Epiphanes is made to die three different deaths in as many different places. 6. It inculcates doctrines at variance with the Bible, such as prayers for the dead and sinless perfection. 7. It teaches immoral practices, such as lying, suicide, assassination and magical incantation. For these and other reasons, the Apocryphal books, which are all in Greek, except one which is extant only in Latin, are valuable only as ancient documents, illustrative of the mmmers, language, opinions and history of the East.)
Still this party of the translators had as much to do as either of the others, in the repeated revision of the version of the canonical books.
